GKN Aerospace is seeking applicants for Team Leaders at its facility in Tallassee, Alabama. The Tallassee facility, located about 35 miles from Montgomery, Alabama, has been in operation since 1985 and employs over 1,000 people, producing composite aerostructures for major OEM aerospace industry partners.

TEAM LEADER

STARTING PAY: $48K
BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and directing aerospace factory employees engaged in the laminating and assembly of composite aircraft components across multi-functions and multi-shifts. The Team Leader will emphasize total employee involvement through team building and accountability, skill development and technical training, quality focus, cost management, delivery schedule and customer satisfaction. 

JOB OF DUTIES:

  • Provide daily leadership and coordinate all required activities associated with an assigned product line(s), work centers and manufacturing departments
  • Ensure adequate resources are available for the team to produce products that meet established quality, schedule and delivery objectives
  • Develop and maintain for the factory team a set of clearly defined performance objectives that involve the following areas of individual and team accountability: workplace safety, quality, cost, schedule, process, attendance, cleanliness, and HAZMAT handling & disposal, housekeeping, performance measurements and timely problem resolution
  • Support of training and retraining activities

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Combination of Associate Degree and +5 years of factory supervisory experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience in leadership positions (Lead Man, Team Leader or Supervisor) in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing assembly/machining/etc
  • Skilled in coaching, team-building, business measurement, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques
  • IT skills (Microsoft Office, MRP Systems)
  • Capable of performing a wide range of leadership activities, including training, standing & walking for long periods and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
