AIDT is seeking applicants for a pre-employment training program at Glasstream Powerboats located in Dothan, Alabama. Glasstream, a proven world leader in designing and creating fuel-efficient center console boats, is looking to fill the following openings:


STARTING WAGE FOR ALL POSITIONS: $12 PER HOUR
PAY VARIES BASED ON EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or GED Equivalent
  • Drug screening  is required to be eligible for training



BOAT ASSEMBLER

  • Installs parts, such as hatches, marine hardware, metal trim, seats, cabinets, and windshields on fiberglass, using hand tools and portable power tools.
  • Inspects boats for defects such as air pockets, thickness, or other failures to conform to blueprint specifications.
  • Performs other duties and will work alongside workers engaged in laminating and assembling boat components made of fiberglass.

FINISH CARPENTER / WOODSHOP TECHNICIAN

  • Fabrication, woodworking/Carpentry experience required. Trim/Finish carpentry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to install doors, bullheads, hatches, according to Glasstream specifications

UPHOLSTERY, SEWING & TACKING TECHNICIAN

  • Must have the ability to operate industrial sewing machines and have a general knowledge and understanding it.
  • Have the ability to read and understand measuring devices, job work orders and how that will relate to the cutting and sewing of materials in accordance to specific patterns and the inspection of materials and products being sewn.
  • Must pay attention to detail on the patterns in an effort to complete the assignment with a minimum of recuts (errors).

LAMINATION TECHNICIAN

  • Spray chopped fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto prepared molds or dies using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments
  • Bond decks and cabin structures of watercraft, using resin-saturated fiberglass
  • Trim excess materials from molds, using hand shears or trimming knives

FIBERGLASS REPAIR / PATCH AND POLISH TECHNICIAN

  • Must be able to sand, buff, and wax.
  • Must be able to mix gelcoat and make patches to repair imperfections with fiberglass parts.
  • Performs other duties and will work alongside workers engaged in laminating and assembling boat components made of fiberglass.
  • Auto body repair experience welcomed but not necessary

MARINE ENGINE AND RIGGING TECHNICIAN

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems in engine systems, including fit and finish
  • Knowledge of marine engine/rigging experience is required through past work experience and/or on the job training
  • Capable of training team members with little or no experience in duties required in job tasking for production line personnel

WIRING AND ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN

  • Electricians must be capable of reading and interpreting installation, manufacturing, assembly, drawings and technical manuals.
  • Installing fuses, cables and power sources as required
  • Removing or repairing defective circuitry
  • Performing basic troubleshooting of electrical systems
  • Experience with high voltage and low voltage systems
