Conner has an outstanding reputation in our industry and has been supplying Forest Products and wood packaging for over 35 years. Conner Industries is currently seeking resourceful individuals for various positions located in Montgomery, AL.


MULTIPLE POSITIONS


PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

PAY: $15.00-$18.00 PER HOUR 

BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise hourly employees and allocate accordingly to support saw and assembly workload
  • Train employees and in accordance with company policies
  • Carry out and coordinate orders to ensure on-time delivery to customers
  • Lead paperwork processing to ensure accuracy in material usage and waste management at the work stations
  • Complete scheduling and reporting in the ERP system to support order processing
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and support maintenance and changeovers
  • Coach employees and continually support a positive work environment
  • Oversee and conduct training on proper operation of equipment and lead safety efforts
  • Participate in projects and lean efforts to drive continual improvement at the facility
  • Be a visible leader; leading by example with work ethic and attitude
  • Lumber re-manufacturing facility with cutting and assembly equipment
  • Significant time walking, coaching and working in a non-air-conditioned facility
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Operate equipment and assembly products
  • Indoor office area with outdoor production and lumber yard management
  • Hearing protection and eye wear required, and steel-toed shoes recommended
  • Minimal travel and weekends expected hours but may be required to support business
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience in a wood related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervision experience; multiple departments
  • Experience with inventory management and material processing; forklift certification a plus
  • Mechanically inclined; experience with wood cutting and manufacturing facility infrastructures
  • Past work in a continuous improvement culture, Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt training is a plus
  • Strong computer skills with experience in the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Prior experience in ERP or other business and production scheduling systems
  • Great communicator and experience building / working in a team environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical thinking


PLANT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

PAY: $12.00 PER HOUR 

BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle plant recruitment.
  • Obtain all necessary documentation from new employees; explain payroll procedures; maintain employee files.
  • Verify weekly time cards and calculate hours for time worked, absent, on vacation, bonuses, etc. and forward to corporate payroll department.
  • Contact workers compensation contact at corporate office immediately upon any injury. 
  • File and record management.
  • Answer phones, take messages, convey information and handle issues as authorized.
  • Order and/or pick-up office supplies.
  • Operate office machines and arrange for repairs when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 3 years general office experience, including use of office machines and computer
  • Knowledge of lumber industry and/or shipping & receiving preferred, but not necessary.
  • Be able to work independently and as a team-player.
  • Perform several tasks at once and deal with interruptions with ease and professionalism.
  • Remain patient and calm under stress.
  • Be organized and attentive to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow employees, truck drivers, vendors and customers.
  • Be able to generally sit, stand, bend, and walk.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel and be able to learn how to use other company software programs.


PLANT LABORER

PAY: $12.00 PER HOUR

BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Saw Operator and Assembly Worker
  • Feeding and cutting lumber
  • Building pallets and crates
  • Must be able to read a tape measure
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Note: (This facility does NOT contain heat or air conditioning)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturing experience: minimum 2 years
  • Experience with a nail gun, tape measure and power tools desired, but willing to train candidate 
  • May be required to perform basic math skills


SAW OPERATOR

PAY: $12.00 PER HOUR

BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs repetitive work station or line assembly operations to mass produce cut material
  • Must be able to perform routine maintenance, repairs and necessary adjustments to meet quality spec and industry standards
  • Check components for quality
  • Must be self motivated and meet the daily expectations of the supervisor
  • Make quality judgments
  • Read and interpret 101 and 201’s
  • Identify wood species and grade of material
  • Provide a safe and productive work environment, including housekeeping, for all team members.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned
  • Note: (This facility does NOT contain heat or air conditioning)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as BOM, 101 or 201 job orders.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to such tasks as inventory control, material ordering, and job order verification.
  • Ability to use and read a standard and/or metric tape measure.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • May be required to lift up to 50lbs and/or occasionally move up to 100lbs


FORKLIFT OPERATOR

PAY: $12.00 PER HOUR

BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to the supply chain
  • Collecting, loading, shipping and receiving warehouse products
  • Responsible for operating technical equipment, optimizing loading for efficient logistics and supporting other warehouse functions to ensure optimal operation of the business
  • Other duties assigned
