READY-MIX
DRIVER
STARTING
PAY: $16 PER HOUR
BASED
UPON EXPERIENCE
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivers
concrete redi-mix to job sites using a truck equipped with an
auxiliary concrete mixer. The process begins at the batch plant with
the concrete redi-mix driver positioning the redi-mix truck under a
loading hopper at the plant where sand, gravel, cement, and water are
gravity fed into the auxiliary mixer. From a lever located in the cab
of the truck the concrete redi-mix driver starts the mixer and then
proceeds to the customers’ job site. At the job site the redi-mix
driver will attach chutes as needed to the truck. Using a lever the
redi-mix driver releases the concrete from the mixer. Once released
the concrete material will flow down the chute to an awaiting
wheelbarrow or other conveying equipment (pump truck, front end
loader, etc.) or directly into the area where the concrete is desired.
When all of the concrete material has been offloaded the driver will
clean the redi-mix truck using water from a hose to prevent the
concrete material from hardening in mixer, the chutes and the truck.
If colored concrete has been ordered by the customer the redi-mix
driver may add the color directly into the auxiliary mixer or it may
be added at the batch plant.
