Madison Metal Processing is currently seeking applicants for a General Maintenance Supervisor in Madison, AL. Madison Metal Processing is a full service, steel processing service center, which specializes in blanking and warehousing in North America. Their product range includes aluminum, flat rolled steel, hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, exposed and coated steel products.





Supervises multiple shift operations for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of maintenance and repair activities on equipment and machinery in Steel Operations area.


  • Plans and monitors overall maintenance and repair functions.
  • Purchases and controls machine/equipment spare parts.
  • Initiates and implements preventative actions to reduce and/or eliminate waste and quality problems due to equipment or machine breakdown/malfunction.
  • Monitors safety of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Establishes and maintains work instructions, process procedures and standards for maintenance and repair functions.
  • Participates and provides leadership for the continuous improvement program (kaizen).
  • Inputs information for yearly budget and management plan preparation.
  • Monitors and reports on Maintenance performance in relation to budget and Management Plan targets.
  • Prepares various monthly reports.
  • Follows up on Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for production loss or quality problems related to equipment or machine breakdown/malfunction. Ensures completion and implementation of equipment related countermeasures.
  • Trains, reviews and disciplines employees in the Maintenance Department.
  • Coordinates activities of contractors performing work in Steel Division facilities.
  • Coordinate, manage and monitor daily safety, quality, and productivity 
  • Ensures establishment and maintenance of work instructions, process procedures, and work standards
  • Ensures prompt investigation, reporting and countermeasure of safety incidents and audits.  Analyzes data to improve productivity and implements improvements.  Ensures adequate tools and equipment are available for a safe and productive operation. Ensures the facility has a preventive maintenance program for building and production equipment in order to minimize downtime. 
  • Ensures the facility has effective quality control measures in place in order to meet internal and external customer expectations.  Sets, follows, and meet targets for quality performance.  Analyzes data to improve quality and implement improvement.
  • Ensures company policies (HR, Safety, Internal Controls, IT Accounting, Security, etc) and other directives are communicated, implements and observed throughout the organization.
  • Provides leadership for and monitors the continuous improvement program (Kaizen)
  • Educates/trains subordinates as necessary
  • Ensures reports are submitted to the appropriate company entity (HR, Safety, Compliance, Security, Division Management) withing the specified time frame and with accuracy.


  • Two year degree from a college or technical school; or 3 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Crane license, forklift license, (May be obtained in first three months of employment).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, quality manuals, work instructions, technical manuals and equipment blueprints. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, work instructions, process procedures, standards and root cause analyses. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read machine and equipment blueprints and schematics.
  • May be required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Occasionally required to work in tight, confined, cramped areas and at various heights above the floor.
  • May be required to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
