Boy Foods is seeking applicants for a Roaster Operator in
Troy, Alabama. Golden Boy Foods is a leading manufacturer of private
brand and branded food products. We supply organic and conventional
peanut butter, tree nut butter, other nut butters, snack nuts, trail
mix, baking nuts, and dried fruit to leading grocery retailers, top
food service distributors and industrial bakeries across North
America.

POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
Roaster
Operators runs high speed automated roasting equipment and manage all
aspects of the roaster. They verify usage of correct roasting peanuts,
blending ratios, and temperature controls. They are responsible for
ensuring that our peanuts are processed accordingly to quality and
safety standards. This position plays an integral role in ensuring our
product meets our customer expectations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Before
start-up – checks all equipment and work areas to insure safety and
sanitation conditions are correct and ready for use. Assembles and
disassembles equipment for sanitation purposes.
- Properly
starts up and shuts down the peanut tote stations, conveyors, roaster,
elevators, blanchers, sorter, dicers, and sifters. Properly starts up
and shut bulk peanut filler station.
- Selects
appropriate raw material (peanut) for processing per customer
specifications.
- Checks
for quality and cleanliness for raw materials.
- Responsible
for blending and roasting of peanuts to meet established requirements.
- Checks
and adjusts skin removal system for proper operation.
- Directs
and assists in the sanitation of the roaster area and roaster belt
cleaning
- Coordinates
production activities with other departments to insure efficient
operation of the plant
- Maintains
forklift certification and operates a forklift to supply the roaster
with peanuts. Maintains and properly rotates inventory for proper FIFO
- Properly
maintains and documents CCP, daily production, and Quality data
sheets.
- Other
duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must
be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
- High
school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
- Previous
manufacturing experience
- Mechanical
aptitude to repair equipment
- May
be required to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours
per shift
- May
be required to walk or stand for up to 12 hours per shift
- May
be required to reach above shoulders and climb/work off ladder for 4+
hours per shift
- May
be required to work in a dusty environment, high heat, or humidity for
4+ hours per shift
- May
be required to perform simple grasping, push, pull, and feel for 4+
hours per shift
- May
be required to lift up-to 50 pounds for 4+ hours per shift
- May
be required to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written
word
- May
be required to make fine distinctions by sound
- May
be required to distinguish object or equipment visually
