Coastal Growers is seeking applicants for a Staff Accountant in Atmore, AL. Coastal Growers is a grower-owned LLC peanut shelling plant owned by local farm families in the southeast.   


SALARY: $50k - $60k



  • Reviews billing request from Sales team for completeness and readiness for invoicing.
  • Prepares invoices in (Grossman AgExceed) ERP system on same day billing request submitted by operations team (handles daily fluctuating volumes).
  • Ensures invoices are expediently and correctly sent (electronically) to customers/brokers.
  • Records all Check and Wire payments that are received, reviews for accuracy and submits check payments to bank.
  • Code and process a high volume of invoices into the company financial system (Grossman AgExceed) daily.
  • Confirm details on the supplier invoice against the client contract and business system to verify charges are correct.
  • Ensure expenses are reasonable and consistent with the company travel policy.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies, past due invoices and duplicate payments. 
  • Review affiliate statements monthly and ensure all invoices are processed. 
  • Maintain and update the subcontractor rate list.
  • Responsible for entering approved data in accounting system(s) to process transactions in a timely, comprehensive manner following document procedures and proper internal control practices.
  • Prepares various reconciliations of accounts and prepares adjusting journal entries to accurately close the monthly fiscal period in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Preparation and maintenance of Fixed Asset module within accounting system. 
  • Performs and documents analysis of accounting transactions, including comparisons to forecasted and trended results during close and for quarterly and annual trend analysis reports.
  • Prepares/collects external audit requests and schedules for quarterly reviews, year-end audits, and internal audits.
  • Questions/validates data provided, gathers additional information, requests clarification/backup documentation, corrects inaccuracies and/or addresses other needs/issues prior (or subsequent) to the initiation of processing activities.
  • Other duties, as assigned.


  • Associates Degree in Business OR Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable accounting experience including reconciliation/analysis experience required 
  • Must possess working knowledge of computerized accounting process with a working knowledge of accounting-based software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to create multiple reports from accounting software as needed by management.  
  • Experience working with multiple entities and departments a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and all levels of management.
  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated accounting system.
  • Must possess excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities.


  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Mon. - Fri.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and extra hours, as needed.
  • The work environment consists of a climate-controlled office area.  This may be an open floor plan, with office cubicles separated by dividers.
