United Launch Alliance is seeking applicants for a Non-Destructive Testing Technician in Decatur, AL. PAY: $16.28 - $40.00 PER HOUR



  • We are looking for NDT Level II certified Radiography (RT) and Ultrasonic inspectors to help build the next generation of rockets! Aerospace experience is not required.
  • Our most successful resources are also machine operators of vertical lathe, hemi mill, skin mill, brake operators, assembly/metal fitters, welders, chemical processors, structure mechanics, composite structure mechanics, assembly technicians, system installers and testers, avionics installers and testers, production acceptance test technicians, thermal insulation technicians and painters.
  • This effort supports our mission to Save Lives, Explore the Universe and Connect the World.
  • Military experience is highly preferred.
  • This position is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM).

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years or more documented experience as an NDT Level 2 inspector in Radiography and/or Ultrasonics inspection.
  • NDT certifications must be in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A, CP-189 or NAS-410.
  • Must be familiar with using computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Must be capable of interpreting and applying NDT specifications and procedures.
  • May be required to lift and handle hardware and components up to 50 lbs.
  • May be required to climb, stoop, or crawl as part of normal inspection duties.
  • Must be willing to be fitted to wear a full face respirator.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Military NDT experience.
  • Trade school NDT certification.
  • Additional experience and NDT Level 2 certifications Dye Penetrant or Eddy Current Inspection.
  • Three (3) years minimum documented experience and training as a certified NDT level 2 inspector in the four (4) following disciplines: radiography, dye penetrant, ultrasonic, and eddy current.
  • Preference will also be given to prior experience in any of the following: Digital radiography of weldments or phased array ultrasonic inspection.
  • Two (2) years college training in general science, mathematics, nondestructive testing or computer studies.
  • Prior ULA, Boeing or Lockheed NDT Level 2 certifications in radiography, dye penetrant, ultrasonic or eddy current inspection methods.
  • Capable of reading engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Associates Degree in Aerospace Technology, Welding or Non-destructive testing. 
  • Associate Degree/Trade School Diploma or certificate in Manufacturing technology, or Non-destructive Testing.


  • 3rd shift: Sunday - Friday, 10:45pm - 7:15am.
  • Must be willing to work weekends or extended hours as needed.
  • Must be willing to work 2nd and 3rd shift.
  • Manufacturing environment.
