Hager Companies is seeking applicants for an HR Generalist at their facility in Montgomery, Alabama. For more than 170 years, Hager Companies stands alone as the only provider of a full line of door hardware that is US-based. 


SALARY: $50k+



  • Screen applicants and interview candidates, assist management in hiring process.  
  • Primary contact with temporary and various other agencies.
  • Conduct on-boarding for new hires.
  • Handle employee relations issues. 
  • Assist employees with benefit questions and programs. 
  • Evaluate and analyze salary ranges. 
  • Develop and maintain benchmarking and related statistical data.  
  • Manage the performance appraisal process & monitor merit guidelines. 
  • Participate in company salary structure, job documentation, and job evaluation processes. 
  • Conduct job analysis, including FLSA classification, and prepare/revise job descriptions as required. 
  • Assist with talent development process. 
  • Conduct research/analysis for use in recommending HR policies, procedures, or processes. 
  • Assist with annual budget and bonus processes. 
  • Oversee employee activities events. 
  • Handle special projects as requested.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Solid understanding of HR related laws and regulations such as FLSA, FMLA, etc.
  • Three plus years of human resource experience in a similar HR Generalist type position.
  • Experience in a manufacturing background is considered a plus. 
  • Must be able to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and have strong analytical abilities.
  • Must work well in a team environment, as well as independently, to complete special projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills and initiative required.
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to address changing needs and situations.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word & Excel).
  • Experience with compensation studies & job evaluation is a plus.
