Globe Metallurgical Inc. is seeking applicants for an Electrical Engineer in Selma, Al. Globe Metallurgical Inc. is part of the Iron and Steel Mills and Ferroalloy Manufacturing Industry.



SALARY: $70k - $90k


  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines as established by management.
  • Provides guidance to the plant’s electricians to resolve plant electrical issues and maintain  processes.
  • Confirms electrical system’s components capabilities by testing methods and properties.
  • Troubleshoots and supports existing electrical systems to maintain the plant’s performance and uptime with focus on control systems, electronics and power distribution systems.  
  • Engineers, designs, and implements new projects to improve the plant’s operation, replace old   equipment and improve reliability.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components
  • Oversee the construction and implementation of capital projects and performs routine electrical maintenance.
  • Supports and takes ownership of both new installation and existing processes.
  • Optimizes the plant’s electrical maintenance programs including electrical preventive maintenance programs and generates detailed reports of these activities.
  • Ensures that the plant’s electrical systems meet OSHA, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and insurance requirements.
  • Review periodically methods, procedures, reporting and processes to increase efficiency.
  • Ensures that health, safety policies, standards and procedures are complied with at all times.
  • Promptly correct any department deficiencies.
  • Additional duties as required.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering from and accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Industrial Automation, Control Systems and Power Distribution preferred.
  • Experience in Heavy Industry, industrial manufacturing or related industry preferred.
  • Training in AB Control Logix PLC Systems, power distribution maintenance, protective relaying and motor control is a plus.
  • Hand on experience in developing PLC codes from conceptualization and migrating existing control systems platforms over to modern software/hardware.
  • Proficiency in Autocad, Rockwell Automation Software (RS Studio 5000), Variable frequency Drives and Industrial Networking practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, training, organizational, documentation, computer and mentoring capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of production processes.
